Colourize the radicals while writing as in Pingrid

qiaodan   June 7th, 2011 11:39a.m.

Hi guys I would like to suggest you to colourise the radicals while writing the character in the scratchpad, I have been using Pingrid (an offline free opensource Skritter like for MS Windows) but I subscribed to Skritter because of the mnemonics and many good stuff that lack in Pingrid, but I am feeling like this is important, since I could recall a lot of radicals using color as mnemonic.
This technique is also used in Eon Estroke on Iphone.

Well, you can enable colours for Skritter. When you write them, they'll also write in that colour. Although, you can't change the colours around.

We don't currently have information in the database that matches strokes in characters to radicals, although at some point I want to add it so that we can do as you suggest and color them differently, and also so I can try making recognition operate on whole radicals at a time as opposed to just single strokes. That's a ways off, though!

Thanks Nick, since radicals are missing even in the information panel, would be hard to add it for now at the right panel of the scratchpad near the Character detail? It requires no too much space.

@Byzanti: sorry for my English, I am Italian and since I have started to study Chinese as a second language my English level decreased:)

@qiaodan I on the other hand am a native English speaker and since I started to study other languages my English has gotten much worse.

qiaodan, sorry you saw before my edit! I just thought colourize was quite funny, as it's both UK and American English. After I saw you were Italian in your profile I removed it, as I thought it wasn't fair to say. Your English is great anyway, don't worry about it.

Out of interest, Byzanti, would you reveal where you're from?

Byzanti   June 7th, 2011 8:12p.m.

Sure, London. Don't worry, we haven't met!

@Byzanti: Never use self-censorship;) What you said is very interesting to me;)
