My Words bug - Delete button disappears

atdlouis   May 7th, 2011 7:49p.m.

If you do two consecutive searches in "My Words," the delete button will disappear after the first search.

I'm trying to clean out a couple hundred words from my words list, so this is pretty annoying. I have to reload the page to have the words appear again.

I wonder why would you remove words from your word list, doesn't that create problems of having to learn the words again in the future when adding new lists? Assuming you'll want to learn more and more words in the future.
Or they are in your word list while you don't wanna study them at all atm?

I'm still learning about Skritter...

Hi Elwin,

I am deleting individual characters, not words. Many individual characters have widely different definitions, and some on the board have suggested studying words made up of one or more character.

I spent a few hours cleaning out most of the individual characters in my study, and I find my studying is much more productive.

Aha, fixed the bug. Thanks for the report, I'll upload the fix soon!

While we're on the subject, any luck with the search bug? That is, if you search for an individual character, a whole bunch of words with it in don't show up?

scott   May 9th, 2011 5:48p.m.

I wasn't aware of this bug. It only shows words that you're studying though. If it still isn't showing the words you're studying with the given character, could you send me an example so I can reproduce it? Thanks!

Byzanti   May 9th, 2011 5:58p.m.

Loads and loads of characters do it. One random example from the top of the page is 挑逗. If I search for 挑 on its own, only 挑战 comes up. I have others with 挑 too. 挑选, er, 挑剔 (that one's still in the queue though I think). None which appear. If you search for the word individually it shows though.

Ah, I fixed this for Japanese but not for Chinese it looks like. The fix will go up with the next update later today.

Great! Thanks
