How was Christmas?

george   December 30th, 2008 2:06p.m.

For those of you that celebrate Christmas, how was it?

I spent most of the Christmas holiday talking with old high school friends, eating my mum's sugar cookies, sitting on heat registers that are actually warm (unlike those in our current apartment), and wrapping presents.

For Christmas my mom gave me an ergonomic mouse, which was great because I happen to be on the computer quite a bit. :) My Dad also has a tradition of paying for a day of skiing with my brother and I. This year we may be able to go out to Colorado because some friends of ours have a time share in Aspen and they might let us sleep on their floor for free! Ordinarily we wouldn't be able to afford something that posh, but without lodging costs we may be able to swing it. My bro and I really like skiing, so I'm super-pumped about the prospect.

I guess I don't have any real plans for new years other than the regular. Maybe Nick, Chloe and I can have a champagne toast at midnight or something.

Did everyone else enjoy the holidays?

Christmas was smaller this year but still very homey. I usually celebrate it with my cousin's family but this year it was just my parents, myself, and Nick. We then visited Nick's mom in Asheville, NC, which is a really nice artsy town/city with so many Third Places to explore within walking distance. And the temperature was always in the mid-50's. Tomorrow we're flying back to Ohio to keep George company so he doesn't have to be alone in the house at night with Gary the Gnome and Mister Kitty the betta fish.

George,
Sorry to hear that you didn't get to ski in Colorado. We're also sorry to hear you didn't get to ski in WV either. We had a white Christmas here in St. Marys but there would not have been enough of the white stuff to ski here either. Our Christmas was the same as many before it. Christmas Eve mass at Sacred Heart Church and a family get together at your Aunt JoAnne Beveridge's house. The Saturday following was a house hopping excursion that was attended by the next three levels of relatives (ie. Patty & myself with our children, their mates and offspring if applicable (ie. Patty & myself, Jackie/Jeremy w/Wyatt, Devin/Tricia, Frank & Amy Timm, Gina/Glenn w/Mya and Bradyn, Marty, Craig etc. etc.) We visited at the houses of all who attended. It was a long but very enjoyable day. The next day for some was a very slow and somewhat painfull day. We got the website (and ski conditions)from your fathers Christmas letter. Judging by the photographs they fit right in to 1781. Anyway, good luck with your endeavor we hope it's all you expect and more.
