Wacom tablet poll

Lawnmower16   May 14th, 2011 3:03p.m.

This poll seems to have some meaning behind it. Still kind of a strange poll.

Anyway, I chose Amazon, just because I assume Amazon would be cheaper, with free shipping and we'd get the same product either way. I'd have to know a lot more about Skritter selling them to answer that in any other way.

The only way I might buy a Tablet from Skritter is if it was cheaper, came with a few months of subscription, or had something unique about it that I wanted.

We used to sell them cheaper from our site, but the shipping was slower. Our distributor was terribly incompetent, though, so we turned it off. The poll is trying to suss out whether users prefer to have an integrated ordering experience or to use a separate vendor.

Maybe if Skritter tablets came with a month of free Skritter, a selection of Skritter mascot decals, and a pen that shocked the user every time they missed a stroke people would be more interested.

I bought my Wacom at 百脑汇 because I like the test and take it home type of transaction.

I got mine through my school when I was an undergrad. I just had the bookstore order it and, since it was for learning Chinese and I was a Chinese student, I was able to use my student account for books, food, etc. to purchase it. Otherwise I would have bought through Skritter unless it was drastically cheaper somewhere else.

In Japan if you buy through Amazon you can pay for your product at a convenience store with cash instead of having to use you credit card online. That was the key benefit for me. Also the shipping to Japan from within Japan is of course faster.

I like the idea of buying from Skritter to support Skritter, but it's hard to recommend that you guys sell them (barring some kind of "no-lose" third-party seller sort of thing) because of the worldwide customer base of Skritter, meaning that most customers would have better options for buying locally and thus receiving the tablet sooner. If you were hooked up to a distribution network that could ship them locally within Asia, Australia, North America, the UK, and the EU then you'd be talking, but short of that, only a small portion of the user base is likely to be able to take advantage of the offer.

I agree with the above users, though, that some sort of incentive package would sweeten the deal. Particularly some swag - the lack of any Skritter swag for purchase makes any opportunity to get some a compelling opportunity.

I bought my wacom from skritter last yar and I am very happy with it. I would like to be able to buy swag too since I am not likely to win anything from the May challenge. :( One hour a day is very hard to do especially with regular business travel into different time zones and foreign countries! Oh well, I will still try and make up my lost time if possible!

I bought my wacom when I found one sort of randomly in a store in Denmark

(yes, we also have such things here lol)

I'm not sure how to answer the poll. I'm not currently in the market for a tablet, but if I were, I would certainly consider buying it through Skritter to support them.

podster   May 15th, 2011 7:21p.m.

Same here. I got my Wacom at the office supply store exclusively to use with Skritter. If Skritter had offered it and the price were comparable I probably would have bought it there. An added benefit would be knowing that it was a product that would work with Skritter.

I like the decals idea. A Wacom with the Skritter logo on it would be awesome for some reason, but it's not really a priority. Imagine one that lit up each time you got a stroke wrong!
