AIR based android app?

volcacius   June 13th, 2012 10:52a.m.

The iOS app has been released and it's gorgeous, but it looks like android has been left behind. I know that developing a native app takes a lot of time and effort, so what about a flash to AIR port? AIR on Android has become relatively mature, it supports hw accelleration and while not perfect, i think it would be a much better solution than the browser based version. Plus, because android is strongly fragmented and rarely a complex app "simply works" at launch on the play store, i think android users are more accustomed to use and test beta apps, so i don't think an unpolished would bother anyone. What do you think?

What we learned from doing this iPhone app is that you need to do a lot of things differently to make a good mobile app--just taking what's on the web and making it work on your phone is better than nothing, but not nearly good enough to satisfy. It's a good point that users may be used to less polish on Android, but they can sort of get that already with our existing Flash version.
