Hi,
I'm starting to reach 1000 characters but am increasingly struggling to distinguish certain common radical variations, such as 靜 & 淨, 清 & 情 & 晴, 亮 & 涼,健 & 建 etc. you get the drift. Of course when they are presented as part of whole words this is rarely a problem but it becomes one at times when Skritter asks me to produce them individually or write the words and in some cases I will also confuse their tones (where they differ).
In this regard, and I don't know how much it really has to do with this problem, but I wonder - what is actually the better approach to mnemonics: breaking characters down to the most individual parts or only to the ones that Skritter actually shows as components. E.g. 鍛 - should I use a mnemonic like "section (bar) of gold - smelting/forging" would be easier to me than a mnemonic combining the 3 individual radicals that is currently user suggested in Skritter.
There's plenty of other examples of course where you can break up characters in more than one way and I wonder what's ultimately more effective and least confusing / future-proof.
And of course if anyone has any tips in regards to memorizing very similar characters I'd be very grateful.
