Adding frequency

Noqa   January 16th, 2012 6:42p.m.

I know you guys are now developing iOS app and don't have time for improving basic Skritter, but I wanna share some thought for the future.

I'm a bit irritated as the "add word frequency" setting doesn't really get along with my anti-rutinal habits. When find myself having time and willingness for hours of skrittering there's never enough new words. So I go to setting and make adding fast. But it needs time to adjust.

Few days later, after I hadn't much time for learning and also now I have only a bit I cannot escape form the pile of growing vocabulary - instead of repeating what I added last time and still haven't mastered I get more and more new words, which don't even come back, cause apparently Scritter thinks it's still not enough for my appetite. But I planed to learn only for a half an hour - time's running away and I still haven't get to repeating new ones. Annoyed I get back to settings and change frequency to slow. Thus I came full circle.

Couldn't it be (in some point in future), that you can make your frequency rate depend on how much time you spend, how fast you learn and how big your repetitions' hunch is?
There could be some basic speed, but it could vary depending on the situation. I don't how the other, but I would find it unimaginably practical.
Just wondering... :)

Disregarding the spam reply you already got, why do you not change your account to manual add? Then you are in full control how many new words you will get and when. This suits me perfectly. Sometimes I add hundreds of words in very short time and other days just a few. it makes me keep up perfectly with the retention periods. Each setting do have its good and bad sides and regardless what they implement it will still not suit everyone's needs and wishes. Give it a try. You can also alter between the settings so this should really suit your needs.

Noqa,

I think the answer to your problem is to manually add words. This is what I do.

When I am studying a list, it is mostly in the "Review" section. When I want to add words, I change it's status to "study." Then in study mode I hit the green button to add a word. Sometimes I want to add 80 words to study at once, so I will click it 80 times.

Then, I change the list status back to Review. This way you can add as few or as many words as you want, when you want.

i just have the study button

When you are in study mode you have in the upper right corner an icon with the text settings. Click that and you can change what to study and if to add or not. There is the review mode function (temporary parts study). If you just review there will be no words adding automatically. You can also limit what you parts you do review.
