Glad to see that I have sparked a debate on the use of the forum.

Maggie: what a very odd question to ask... it makes me think that you might be a child/teenager (especially taking into account why you are so focused on those test questions), so I am going to be as constructive as possible :-). I hope no offence is incurred if you are not! ;-)

I think you should take the advice of the other Skritter-users and take advantage of lang-8 (http://lang-8.com/). Judging from your other posts, I take it that you are German (or maybe a bordering country of Germany?)? You should help out people who want to learn German and then you can reciprocally get helped with your Chinese (and English). Personally I think for forums to function well they should not be just about users demanding answers for particular questions/issues. There should be more than just a taking mentality and instead employ a quid pro quo arrangement where people mutually help one another. However, that is just my view and some other people view it differently.

My other recommendation is to sign up to Skritter. It is an excellent resource that I wish I had when I was first learning Chinese characters. It takes the mystique away from learning characters and it will allow you to focus on what is most important, i.e. speaking Chinese!

I personally see no problem in helping someone else out. By teaching you learn more yourself too. Let MD post her questions on Skritter, and don't bash her for trying to seek help. I see little logic in not letting someone post questions on here. Plus, MD is extremely greatful when she gets help (she writes thank you threads). Helping people out is what binds a community together, not rip it apart.

I think you are looking at it wrong if you see Skritter as a free personal tutor service. I look at it as an opportunity to flex your Chinese, teach, and help someone grow.
