Off topic again: Chinese snickers commercial

Mandarinboy   August 5th, 2012 5:26a.m.

I admit that I like the Chinese covers of western music but also ditto commercials. Snickers (士力架) latest one is actually very funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTRIWZfq90o&feature=related

As reference, this is the original one aired in US and the west: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=decJZLFc8zQ&feature=related

funny! I wish it had subtitles, I don't quite catch what they are saying.

The Hong Kong one is funny too, with a good "kicker" at the end.

That's great!

I could be wrong but I think when he is hungry he turns into the beautiful yet sickly and fragile 林黛玉 (Lin Daiyu) from the 'new' TV version of 紅樓夢 (Dream of the Red Chamber) on the right hand side of the main picture: http://tv.sohu.com/s2011/xinhlm/

The Hong Kong one:

Singapore's has similar characters as China's and provides a kind of Singlish translation:

Malaysia's is very similar. Are they speaking Chinese? I think I understand it better than the Chinese ad!

Indonesian? is same, with some more local characters spliced in

I think the words in the Chinese is roughly:

大哥,你敢再虚点吗?

俄得跟林黛玉似的手软脚软

要不你来
我 你在说一遍
你再说
哎算了算了算了

饿得他都站不稳了,来一条士力架把

怎么样

来劲了

横扫机饿
做回自己
士力架真来劲!

thanks @Mandarinboy!

Mandarinboy,

You mind me asking how you scanned all the CCTV subtitles for the subtitles vocab list? Your help would be much appreciated. I am trying to find subtitles for lots of Chinese movies, but struggling.

Thanks a ton,
Marcus

Not to answer on Mandarinboy's behalf, but I get most of my Chinese (and some English) subtitles from http://shooter.cn and some from a popular Asian torrent site that I won't name or link to.

To digress, I have also found a few pinyin subtitles knocking around although they are fairly rare (with various combinations of pinyin, English, and Hanzi shown simultaneously). Watching movies with all three is just awesome.

To create my own I built a little program which allows me to merge together Hanzi and English subtitles, as well as auto-generate the Pinyin (with some success). It works pretty well, I would be happy to share whatever I have if anyone is interested...

@alanmd

Thanks a ton for the help. I just recently came across shooter.cn, but was having a hard time opening a lot of the packages.

Would be greatly appreciated if you could forward me any of the sets you have put together, or any other ideas on top of that.

Thanks again!

I've never had a problem opening the RAR files from shooter.cn - I use 7zip ( http://www.7-zip.org/ ) to open them. I use Notepad++ ( http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ ) to convert to UTF8 if they are GB or Big5 encoded. Sometimes the Shooter website itself acts a bit weird- the css and images all disappear, but most of the time it works well.
