view characters and write the pinyin

beth   October 12th, 2009 10:29p.m.

is there a way to have a character appear and you write the pinyin? just to test recognition

Tortue   October 13th, 2009 12:13a.m.

This is in my opinion extremely important, I see everyday tons of characters that I KNOW that I learnt them on Skritter but impossible to remember the pronunciation/meaning.

The pinyin --> characters exercise is only 50%, to make a truly complete service, a characters --> pinyin/definition version should be available.

In fact, this is a very good idea. Recognition has to go the two ways.

However perhaps we are requesting too much from Skritter, it already does so many good things.

Please forgive us, but we are hard core fans.

As far as I know this functionality is currently being developed, but no due dates have been communicated.

Can't wait for it to arrive !

Tortue   October 13th, 2009 4:31a.m.

great news then :)

Oh yeah, we're all trudging away working on reading and definition practice, along with everything that needs to be done in the mean time (of which there is a lot). Nick in particular has been working a long time on rewriting the flash code to make it possible to add reading and definition practice, among other things.

Don't know when these things will be ready, but we're working as diligently as we can!

加油!

nick   October 13th, 2009 8:59a.m.

I 加油 it great!

No completion dates yet, but that's less of a "it's far away" thing and more of a "I've learned not to give completion estimates" thing. You will like it when it's ready.

Love the idea! Can't wait when it's ready!

Yes, I agree! Great idea!
