Although the new nexus tablet doesn't officially support flash, it's possible to install it manually from the apk file (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336 ). That page also links to Dolphin Browser version 8.5.1 which supports flash (disable auto-update because the newer versions don't).

I like Dolphin because you can set the browser agent to "ipad" which, together with the android=true parameter, is a nice layout for landscape on a tablet that shows the components properly.

However, there is an issue currently making this unusable - taps are registering as two clicks. So, if I complete a character and press the next arrow it will skip forward 2 screens. Tapping the ? button will flash the screen as if it had been clicked twice. Any idea how to avoid this?

Hmm--do you still see the same double tap bug behavior if you turn off the iPad user agent? You can also use a tablet-based Android layout by changing the ?android=true parameter to ?android=true&resolution_width=1024

Thanks for your response, Nick. Unfortunately the double tap behaviour is the same regardless of the user agent settings. I tried a number of other browsers too - any that worked with flash seemed to have the same double tap problem, so I'm guessing it's flash or android related rather than browser specific.

The resolution_width tip is nice, that looks like a better option than changing the user agent, and presumably works in browsers where you can't change it.

That's strange! Other Android devices have not had this problem so far. Potentially it's something strange with the Nexus.

Oh, I recognize this! My galaxy nexus phone does the same thing. I thought it is a consequence of flash no longer being supported. There is a workaround for me though, try holding a button for about a second instead of tapping. If I hold a button this way, I can see the button change into a "pressed" state after a short while. It is still a bit annoying, but not nearly as much as constant double-clicking.

Yes, you're right the press-and-hold workaround works for the next and previous buttons. But for the"?" button it's not very helpful, it makes it draw slowly. I think I'm just too impatient to put up with that!

Since the same thing is happening on the nexus phone, it may be something to do with jellybean, the new android version. It would be interesting to know if skritter is working correctly for other devices running android 4.1.1, if there are any yet other than nexus devices.

It seems not only Nexus devices are affected. I have the same thing on a Galaxy S with Jelly Bean (CyanogenMod 10).

I've given up trying to get the flash app working on jelly bean and instead went out and bought an ipod touch. Although I'd love to see it working on android, the iOS app is beautiful and I can get through revisions twice as fast compared to the flash app (sometimes I had to go slow so the Galaxy S2 would draw the lines properly in flash). Given the improved speed and quality it was definitely worth the price of the iPod, even though I don't use it for anything else!

There is the occasional brief pause while the next char is prepared but other than that performance on the iPod is great. It would be nice to see which lists the character was added from and when though, I think that was visible in the flash app somewhere.

On the iOS app, there's no way to do this right now, since the list/section names aren't stored in the app for easy display. When we work in a way to represent those client-side so that we can offer single list study, we may be able to hook this feature up so you can see the origins of the words--that would certainly come in handy if we can get it working!
