Newsletter Top Learner Record?

timoak33   March 2nd, 2014 12:24p.m.

Just wondering what the record is so far for top learner in the newsletter.
And how is it calculated, is it the 15th to the 15th of every month?
Just curious, would be nice to be in top 6!

I'd also love to see stats/rankings for total characters/word learned by language. It would be cool to see who has learn the most hanzi/kanji and the most words. I would find it motivating.

Nice idea 👍

I'm going to guess it's muer.

Last I checked was summer 2012, and muer had the most characters (5310), swimming had the most words (16,972), Roland had the most hours (1100), and a private Skritterer had the most items (57,503). I can't find my analysis script now, so I'll have to rewrite it again sometime and run some more stats. Now I'm curious to see if any new champions have arrived.

To find the record for top learners in the newsletter, you'd just have to go back through all the old newsletters and see. Sometimes the top learner is a private account, though, so there are hidden warriors that elect not to be listed.

It's calculated based on the past 30 full days in my particular timezone when I run the script to calculate the stats, which is usually on the 15th but sometimes is on 14th.

Thanks for the info Nick!

In a newsletter a couple of years ago, I remember seeing someone had studied for 110 hours(!). I'd be surprised if that's been beaten.

Wow that would be 3.67 hours a day, in other words, ALL DAY!
That person must be single or has a very understanding partner! Lol!
