Since iOS 7 I have noticed quite some times that, if I have skrittered before, then leave the mobile phone in standby or do something else, that in some occasions when i re-open Skritter and click on start, the character does not appear. I can hear the speech, but the rest of the page doesn't charge. If I try to click somwhere, Skritter moves on the next character (as if I had chosen that I knew that character), but with the next character it happens as well.

Only workaround is to shut down Skritter completely and re-start it.

Does anybody else experience the same?

Yep, same here. Occurs quite frequently.

I'm seeing it as well. I'll try and nail down the actions that cause this type of behavior and we'll put it into our list of bug fixes for the next update.

On a similar note, when returning to an earlier skritter session the sound effects are often gone. It seems word pronunciation is still working, but the sound effects re strokes, moving to the next word, reaching the x minutes time intervals, etc. no longer work. A restart fixes the problem.

Yes - i never had the lost characters, but the missing sound effects quite often. But it does not need a "recovered" old session, sometimes it happens just when I switch back and forth between email, iMessage, Pleco and Skritter. Normally a restart helps though.
