App working with iOS 7

Kherith   February 1st, 2014 2:45p.m.

Hi,
I got an iPad from a friend an they ask me to update the iPad to iOS 7 to use the Skritter app. It seems that this device cannot be updated to iOS 7 (it is iOS 5 something now). Does it mean that I cant use Skritter on my iPad ?
Thanks.

Hi there! I was under the impression Apple lets users download previous compatible versions of an app if available and unable to run iOS7, but if that's not working out right then Nick can add you to TestFlight so you can install the previous version. He should see this forum post, but you could shoot him an email at nick@skritter.com if you prefer.

Try installing Skritter frim the app store. It should download the last iOS5 compatible version.

I've actually run into this issue with a lot of my students as well. For some reason the app store isn't offering the option to download the older version of it and simply prompts them to download iOS 7. We haven't found a workaround yet.

Did some Googling and came up with this:

"If you do not already own the app, one workaround is to download the app from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC using the same Apple ID you are using on your iOS device. The app will then be associated with your account and you should then be offered an older version if you attempt to download the app again on the iOS device."

Then you could go to the "Purchases" tab in the App Store on the iOS device and "re"-download Skritter. Has anyone tried this out to see if it works? It would be a lot easier for everyone involved than me sending out the TestFlight build.
