I have let a long time go by and my Chinese has suffered since I last consistently used Pleco. I feel that I should revise my list of texts and start again at at somewhat lower level but do not know how to wipe the slate clean. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to go about this?

Thanks,

Michael P.

re: "since I last consistently used Pleco": did you mean to say "...used Skritter"?

I know there is an option to nuke everything, which will "wipe the slate clean" as you wish. I think this just nukes your queue and progress data, but would leave your existing lists intact. From there you could decide which lists to add, create new lists, or re-mix existing lists to suit your needs.

You could try just using skritter as normal. It might take a few months of daily reviews to clear out a long queue, but the scheduling should still work to make sure you review each item as much as needed. If you nuke your progress, you also remove the information needed for scheduling efficiently.

I'd recommended picking either the HSK or TOCFL list and start reviewing from there. That's what I've done myself in the past, nuke it all and start afresh with one of those lists.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the procedure for "nuking everything"?

I think its under "My Words", the "delete all" option which lets you start over. I've never used it, so not sure exactly what, if anything, is left intact.

You can also temporarily remove any vocab lists you don't want to work on. Your progress on the words in them will be stored, but you won't see reviews for any words that aren't in your active lists. So you could delete all lists besides HSK 1 and 2, for example, then re-add the harder lists gradually as you remaster the easier lists. You'd save more of your progress and total review time if you did it that way.
