iOS app light and dark theme

SolarSmile   June 13th, 2012 12:43a.m.

Does the dark theme save a lot of battery on the iPhone app?? I also lower brightness but want to save more battery.

The app is so nice!

From what I have seen during my alpha testing there is no larger difference(dark is better but very slightly, at least on my 1 gen Ipad) between the light and the dark theme. I got much more effect by lower the brightness and turn off 3g/wifi and only turn them on when i needed to sync. That saves a lot.

Since this is about the dark theme, I figure I could just hijack this thread a little and give some little feedback also for Nick and Scott:

Personally, I only use the dark skin... not because I like the skin itself so much, but just because of the special effects while writing the characters ;)

I have two objections to the dark screen.
First of all, I would really prefer the background to be single-colour only, plain black or plain grey.
When I see the enlarged app on my ipad, I always wanna cry because it just looks like my ipad display got completely scratched all over! (you get what I mean?)

And the other thing, I also skritter now in the night time in the bed, but I figured that without light, and just using the ipad and Skritter w/ dark skin, I am literally sitting in the dark.
Probably with a "grey" skin this could be improved! Or a light skin, but with cooler animation and special effects for the strokes... otherwise I will always be tempted to use the dark skin :)

At night time, I just invert the colors of the iPhone (iOS feature) and use the standard theme. So good. The app is so nice! [2] Indeed.

I rather like the themes, do I hope any changes will give us the option to keep them.

Thanks for your guys thoughts on the theme! We may tweak the existing themes, but it's unlikely at this point that we'll add more. So many non-aesthetic things to work on.

I'll be curious to see who likes which theme more though.

I like both. Depends on mood. Calligraphy style when feeling serene. Welding style when I'm ready to do battle with the list. I feel like you got back to your video game inspired roots. Both themes are brilliant.
