Heisig Definitions

I'm wondering if anyone knows of some good online lists of Heisig keywords for Chinese. Lists for varying editions would be even better.

Thanks!

Checkout this post here. It contains all the keywords for the Simplified/Traditional/Kanji for each character:

http://forum.reviewingthehanzi.com/viewtopic.php?id=10010

It also includes all the Hoenig keywords as well.

One issue with all sources I've found online so far is that none of them seem to document the primitive meanings of the characters (ie. 甲 keyword is "First", but it's primitive meaning (which is used in the character breakdowns) is "Radish"). If you have the book, there is a diamond shape symbol (made up of 4 small diamonds) that identify when a different primitive meaning is assigned to a character.

There are erratas for Remembering the Simplified/Traditional Hanzi here:

This is really useful, lechuan. Thanks so much!

For the errata link, chrome seems to add a '25' before the %20 when pasting the address. Just remove the 25 after pasting and it should work fine.

is heisig a way of learning chinese quicker for those with a kanji base?

lechuan   September 25th, 2012 12:20p.m.

Heisig is a method to learn Chinese and Japanese characters based on:

1) Learning the most basic components/radicals of a character before learning a character that uses them
2) Grouping the characters by common components/radicals for faster assimilation
3) A mnemonic system to remember which components make up a character
4) An aversion to pronunciation (though there is an index which lists the pronunciation, which I use extensively)

The books are called, Remembering the Kanji, Remembering the Simplified Hanzi, Remembering the Traditional Hanzi.

Similar books based on the Heisig System are Hoenig's Chinese Characters and Matthew's Learning Chinese Characters.
