New behavior of grading bar

Xerxes314   December 10th, 2009 6:32p.m.

Hi guys,

The new grading bar advances immediately after you input a grade, whereas the old behavior was to advance only on clicking the field (or next button) after selecting a grade. The new behavior makes it impossible to grade a character and a word differently. For example, sometimes I want to mark both characters correct but mark the word as forgotten. Is there some way to allow this? Was the extra click really taking so long?

I have to say, I prefer the new way. For me it just seems to flow much better. When I want to change the word level score, I use the back button to go back and change it. Although, this probably wouldn't be ideal if you are changing the word level scores frequently.

Hmm, that's true; I hadn't thought of that. Many users did request that the buttons advance on click, though. More opinions are very welcome.

Changing word-level scores is pretty whack right now. It takes too long to toggle through four states, you have to use the cursor (and it's more difficult with a Wacom), and the clickable area is very small. Suggestions for better ways to choose word-level scores are welcome (keeping in mind that there can be multiple word-level parts to receive the score, but I guess you many options could tie the word-level score being changes to the type of the current prompt).

While it seems odd to have the advance on click, I think I will truly appreciate it once I get used to it

Just like taylor04, strange at first, but I will probably enjoy the added speed when use to it.
I'll use the back button to give a different rating to word.

It's less of an incentive to change my mind about how badly I did. More accurate this way :p.
