Going travelling..

emma741   June 17th, 2014 6:15a.m.

This week I have to undertake approximately 24hrs of flying! I noticed that you can't add new words whilst offline, but you'll see in my previous post that yesterday I accidentally added 100 words to my vocab list.
I was thinking of doing this whilst traveling but it seemed like yesterday that all 100 words came up one after the other and I virtually knew nothing, hence my retention rate has dropped to crazy low levels!
What do you suggest I do whilst I am traveling so I can get a few new words every few hours but not be swamped but a whole heap of new ones in a row!
Thanks, Emma

My personal suggestion is to not add so many words before the trip. You can only learn so much new stuff in 24 hours. It's not such a bad thing to study "old" words. That is also an important part of learning.

Whenever I overextend myself and add too many, I'm swamped for a long time and don't have time to finish my reviews.

I recommend adding 20 or so words.

Emma741 see my reply on your other thread.

Also, i find that, if I make a point of reading the example sentence every time I review a character, it helps build context around it and make it easier to make it stick. This helped me tremendously on my word binge :)

I also suggest adding 20 and running with it. I am really pressured with 2k reviews within a short time because I force added a lot of vocabulary while visiting China for a month in April. Well into June I'm still paying for it once I returned to 30 minutes per day study life.

Ugh. Still a fun hobby, but wind has really left my sails at the moment.
