Help finding character for female

Merritt Thompson   July 8th, 2014 4:36p.m.

When I type in the pin yin for female, nu, the character for female is not one of the choices. How do I add the character for female to my list?

You mean 女, right? It’s not 'nu' but 'nü'.
The 'ü' is often replaced with 'v' when typing on a regular keyboard.

Word of warning, particularly for beginners: take care to use v where necessary - I've found quite a few user-added words that incorrectly use u instead of ü, and I only realised that I'd learnt them wrong a lot later on. A classic example being 红绿灯 (honglüdeng, traffic light) mistakenly added as 红路灯 (hongludeng red street light).

Been there done/did that!
If you see my name on a list make sure to check/edit it before using it.
