New words with review

taylor04   December 18th, 2009 10:29a.m.

Is there anyone we could get new words while we review? Maybe some way to toggle it for those who only want to review? I find it hard to remember words when I get hit by them 10 at a time where it would probably be easier if I got a couple words while I'm reviewing.

On another note, thanks for the great website and all your support. At first I was afraid I would become dependent on using my computer to write characters(not being able to do it by hand) but not I've been on here for awhile new words are getting easier + I'm developing a pictographic memory. Like yesterday, I wrote a word I never learned on Skritter, just because I could picture it. I was only able to passively read characters before:)

It works this way a little already. Because the algorithms that mix the new words in early aren't tuned very well, yet, it's a bit conservative about things and doesn't add much until the end.

If you want to add more earlier, you can use the add word button through the start of your session. That should give you the control you desire until we get the automatic adding tweaked in.

We also still have the "add word frequency" adjustable from the language options page:

The idea is to eventually make it obsolete, but you could turn that up a bit. It will add more earlier and later, too, though, not just earlier, so maybe the manual route is better for you.

Glad to hear that your character prowess is increasing! We'll turn those neurons into strokes, no problem.

That is exactly what I was needing, just didn't know about that feature. Thank you so much!
