size of practice screen

I had never tried that smaller screen and I rather like it since the movements required for that larger screen seem a bit clumsy. However, it makes the rest of the text (particularly the prompt) look awkwardly large. Reducing the overall size will be especially good on the smaller netbook screen.

yeah i have been meaning to try the smaller size on the netbook. I tried the regular one once, and it filled like the entire screen. Since I use a tablet, I had to make like 1 foot strokes :) I could also map the tablet to act like a mouse instead of pixel-to-pad mapping... but I just gave up instead.

When we first started Skritter, we actually had 3 different sizes, and the size selectors were more prominent, partly due to the fact that there weren't as many features! The reason we were wondering about people's flash size preferences is that we're always looking for ways to simplify, and if people overwhelmingly prefer the default, we can reduce the option complexity. Plus, for each size we add, I have to spend several hours making the toolbar sprites.

Nick recently figured out how to dynamically resize the flash window, so that you could potentially just click and drag the flash window to make it a certain size. It's a cool customizable bit, but it would require us to rethink even the redesigned practice page (which is more extensible).
