iOS stroke order feedback

戴金霸   July 16th, 2012 7:34a.m.

方 in 遊 still 撇 last only.

戴金霸   July 16th, 2012 10:11a.m.

Stroke order animation on iOS for 母 for the last three strokes show lower 點 then 樠 and then upper 點. Basically recommend to write them from bottom to top. This is different from the animation for the same component in other charecters like 繁,and also different from the web version which recommend to write from top to bottom. MDBG and Nciku also recommend to write from top to bottom.

Will keep working on this. In-app feedback is better for stroke order, since George the Stroke Order Maestro will see it sooner.

Thanks Nick. I tried in-app feed back but ended in ping-pong emails with Chris. I also want to keep them in one place. For my own educational purpose rather then any thing else. I used to have a few lists of my own but they are gone when I lost my flash drive.

This one is just an observation.

Characters:________________________學 top part
Skritter:__________________________Middle, Left, Right
Arch Chinese:______________________Left, middle, right
eStroke.com:_______________________Left, middle, right
MDBG:______________________________Middle, Left, Right
Taiwanese Ministry of Ed:__________Middle, Left, Right
www.zdic.net:______________________Left, middle, right

I think it is going to be the same with all the characters that have similar top part like 舉, 興, etc.

It is interesting that 现代汉语通用字笔顺规范 shows Left, middle, right for 舆.

The info for 母 in the research page is incorrect.

Arch Chinese héng, diǎn, diǎn (It actually diǎn, héng, diǎn)
eStroke.com héng, diǎn, diǎn (It actually diǎn, héng, diǎn)
MDBG diǎn, héng, diǎn (This one is correct)
Nciku diǎn, héng, diǎn (This one is correct)
Taiwanese diǎn, diǎn, héng (This one is correct)
Wenlin diǎn, héng, diǎn (I can't check this one out)
Paper Dictionary diǎn, héng, diǎn (This one is correct)

So the Taiwanese MoE is actually the only dissenting voice. All the source show top dian before bottom dian.

戴金霸   July 18th, 2012 8:25a.m.

舟 Radical's pinyin is zhou1. The research page said ban1. The stroke orders for the last three strokes are the same as 母 in all the sources. What ever apply to 舟 should apply to 母.

戴金霸   July 19th, 2012 11:42p.m.

Hei1 (黑) - 7th and 8th strokes
• Arch Chinese héng, shù
• eStroke héng, shù
• Taiwanese héng, shù
• Wenlin shù, héng
• Paper Dictionary shù, héng

This one had me baffled for a while as stroke 8th of this is always heng2 in all the variations.
Stroke 6th and 7th is the different between the variations. Just a typo on the first line I think.

The app is fine though.

戴金霸   July 21st, 2012 6:24a.m.

門 radical in 開
iOS skritter recommend héng zhé gōu, héng, héng, shù, etc and allow shù, héng zhé gōu, héng, héng etc
The web version also allow both stoke order but recommend shù, héng zhé gōu, héng, héng etc.

The stroke order for other characters with the same component is strictly shù, héng zhé gōu, héng, héng etc.

戴金霸   July 21st, 2012 10:10a.m.

Character 黨 component 黑:
Skritter does not allow shu4 and heng2 for stroke 6th and 7th. It force me to do heng2 shu4 only. This is different form other characters with the same component and the research page.

戴金霸   July 22nd, 2012 3:35a.m.

Character 努 component 女:

Skritter recommend héng,piě, piě-diǎn(standard CJK description for the stroke) and allow all three to be interchangeable.

Standard stroke for 女 should be piě-diǎn, piě, héng.
This seem to be true even for cursive script where piě and héng are connected together.

戴金霸   July 23rd, 2012 8:50p.m.

Just for the sake of completeness.
Li3 (里) - 5th, 6th and 7th strokes
Zhong4 (重) - 7th, 8th and 9th strokes
Hei1 (黑) - 6th, 7th and 8th strokes
Basically the 土 part.

Arch Chinese shu4, heng2, heng2
eStroke.com heng2 shu4 heng2
MDBG shu4, heng2, heng2
Nciku shu4 heng2 heng2
The Taiwanese MoE heng2 shu4 heng2
http://www.zdic.net/ shu4 heng2 heng2
Zhongwen.com heng2 shu4 heng2
现代汉语通用字笔顺规范 shu4 heng2 heng2

Character 點 component 黑:
Same problem with 黨

戴金霸   July 25th, 2012 10:21a.m.

Character 量 component 里:
Same problem.

戴金霸   July 25th, 2012 10:23a.m.

Character 房 component 方 is still pie3 last only.

戴金霸   July 25th, 2012 10:28a.m.
