I am in the process of creating a new list for this:

The dictionary contains more than 6000 words organized by section and subsection (e.g. section People, with subsections Body, Face, Hand, Foot, etc.) I am adding one page every day (25 words per page on average so far). My wife (who is from Beijing and learning the English part) is correcting things as we go along. So far, there is an error ratio of 15-20%.

Is anyone (who owns the same dictionary) willing to become a joint editor for this list? As it is, it will take another 314 days to complete the project. One contributor doing the same every day would halve the time to completion. Two would reduce it to 100 days, etc. ad inf.

The link you posted is inacccessible. Could you post more details about the dictionary you are referring to, please?

Quite a few errors in the dictionary but my wife is correcting these.

The sections on muscles and skeleton are probably only relevant to medical students but I am including everything for completeness' sake.

泌尿系统 (urinary system) is listed in Skritter as bi4sui1xi4tong3. This is incorrect. It should be mi4niao4xi4tong3.

Similarly, 脾脏 should be read as pízàng and the traditional form is 脾臟. Usually this kind of problem can be resolved by sending a note to the Skritter team and there is no need to discuss this on the forum.

Then there are other words not so easily resolved by them. For example, the word for 'esophagus' in the head section is translated as 食管. I guess 食道 is a more common word. And 拇趾 is more common than 大脚趾 for big toe. For 'little toe', 尾趾 and 小趾 can also be used, depending on whom you ask. I guess this is a problem of “What is correct Chinese?”

The missus says 食管 is more common in Beijing.
She also says 拇趾 is big thumb. And 大脚趾 big toe.

One simply can't get an answer for what's the most common word to describe an object or a concept by asking some Chinese native speakers, because different people will give you different answers. It all depends on which region of the country were they grown up. A more reliable method is to use some published frequency word lists. And Googling with 食道 gives me 27,000,000 results, while 食管 gives 17,800,000 results.

Big thumb is 拇指, the same reading as 拇趾.

@范博涵 You effort in creating a list with 6000 words is highly appreciated. I have no beef with you. I was only thinking about how difficult Chinese is because there are so many different ways to say the same thing. Keep up the good work. 加油!

pts, the missus agrees with you. I will include everything in the dictionary, plus anything she adds (adding "(Beijing)" behind it.

Skritter errors:

- 婴儿连身衣 is not "baby pants and shirt" but "baby romper"
- 围兜 wei2dou1 is a toddler apron, not a bib (围嘴 wei2zui3 is a bib)

The first one was accidentally entered by yours truly. No idea how to change it.

Looking at the images given by Google and Baidu for 围兜 and 围嘴, I can't see any difference between them.

And the definition given by the Taiwan MOE dictionary for 圍兜 is 幼兒穿掛在胸前，用來承接口水，防止衣服潮溼或汙染的穿著物。或稱為「圍兜兜」、「圍嘴兒」。

I guess 围嘴 is exclusively for bib, and 围兜 can be a bib or an apron.

This looks like a very promising list. I'll get around to it one day after all HSK lists are done which will take some time. :)
