Hi fellow learners
I got recently (yesterday) a new Samsung phone which I think is Android based. (Sorry, completely new to these, as I am an old iPhone user). I'd like to use Skritter on this Samsung phone as well, if possible. So far only using it on my iPhone, which is perfect.

I think I understand that there is some way to use Skritter on Samsung, although there is no real app for it. I downloaded the Flash App which I found in the skritter instructions. But then what???
Do I just go to the skritter web page? or is there some offline version as for the iPhone?
I think there are a lot of other learners using Android, right? So maybe you can point me in the right direction.

Yeah, I just switched from iPhone to Android as well. I wrongly assumed there would be an Android version too, but according to the FAQ there is not and there won't be (http://www.skritter.com/faq#iphone), which I think is a pity, because reviewing that way doesn't make much sense.

Skritter itself sometimes hasvery a long loading time on new items, combined with the not-always-so-good cell phone internet connection this makes it unusable for me. Make me wonder, whether I should switch back to Anki or not.

I understand that the Skritter team have decided not to pursue an Android version. Thats a real shame. I would love to use Skritter (and luckily I can afford the high price) but it's not realistic to buy an iPhone just for that.

Guys - please reconsider. The other half of the world's smartphone users would also like to buy your product!

I would not buy an iPhone just for that either. I would buy an iPod Touch. Probably in the secondhand market. Just make sure to get one that can run iOS 7.

it's really a shame not crosslinking it to android, even if they have to rebuild an entire new app.

Yeah, I'd be pretty angry too if I bought an XBOX assuming I could play Super Mario Bros on it.

apart from the not really chep price skritter charges at the moment and every small company is able to produce to program on android (even easier than under iOS) you could just ask software developers to programm it for you and if it has to be charge like 10 extra bucks for the app...
i had to use an iphone for a month because i lost my phone but i upgrade to android again... i really have thought about purchasing skritter for the next year...
but that online version is not nearly worth that - an android app would be :(

I'm surprised that they're not doing an android version. Makes me want an iPhone except the screen is too small it drives me crazy. This app seems like it would be great on the note 3 with its stylus.

iPhone doesn't come with a stylus, but you can easily pick one up at any office supply store and use that on an iPhone / iPod / iPad. I prefer using a stylus on my iPhone to using my finger. As I said above, no need to get an iPhone just for Skritter; an iPod Touch will do. But I appreciate the fact that people don't want to carry around 10 different electronic devices.

I'm thinking they'll do an android version down the road if android keeps getting more popular. Another app author that writes a great flashcard app said for years that he wouldn't do an android version but people kept wanting it and he eventually had time to do it. Android is pretty big now.

I would probably use an android version at some point, but assuming an android version would take 1 year + of development time, surely working on an online HTML5 version would be best, as then should work on android, blackberry, windows phone, kindle fire etc. - see http://mobilehtml5.org/. And within a year or two, its quite possible we'll see universal windows apps that work on windows phone, 7 inch win8/9 tablets and normal windows computers and tablets - that could be a bigger user base than android.

I'd recommend just buying an ipod touch in the meantime, as they are pretty slim to take around in addition to your phone (if you don't want to use an iphone).
