ios app locking up

goobybear   June 12th, 2012 12:05p.m.

Is anyone experiencing a lockup condition where the app does not recognize writing inputs in the study page?

There is a 1/2 inch square box with a circle in the middle of it in the center of the writing area.

All the buttons in the app still respond, its just the handwriting and the forward, back, erase that is not responsive.

Everything was working until I tried it offline where the lockup took place. Not I'm back online and it is still frozen. All the other pages seem to still work.

I think I had the same 问题, I just double tapped home button and closed the app and restarted it and it was fine.

I am having issues with the demo though, all that comes up is a black screen with a bar at the top and an arrow and text that says demo.

Maybe it's a problem with the great firewall, will try again on VPN

I did the double tapping and closed the app and restart and that works for me too. I'm having a problem with the demo too.

Same two issues here, but love the app !

We've found the bug--unfortunately, we're going to need to get Apple to approve an update to fix it, and we're not sure how long that will take. Ouch! For now, please skip the demo, and if you log in after hitting the demo bug, please force quit the app before hitting the logged-in study page.

Sorry about this!

On iPad I'm having the same locked out problem but can't close the app. Double tapping on home does nothing . So I can't study at all.

Mandarinboy   June 12th, 2012 3:09p.m.

@mandinac. Try to tap faster. You need to double click fast like on an windows PC;-) If you do it fast enough you will be given an row at the bottom with all your active applications. Find skritter there and click and hold on it for a few seconds That will give you an red minus sign in the upper left corner. Click that to kill the app. I do also run on an Ipad and have had to do this from time to time in alpha test.

There are two methods to force-quitting app, both detailed here:

http://www.tuaw.com/2010/06/30/iphone-101-quitting-apps-in-ios-4/

You could try the other one, if one isn't working.

No worries Nick, I'll do you a deal, if you guys fix the bug I'll give you a 5 star rating on the app store ;)

Also I will tell all of my 外国朋友 that they should also get a skritter subscription.

On a side note: What is the gesture for "show character"? I know erase is swipe up, but how do I show the character apart from randomly slashing the screen to get it to show one stroke at a time?

nick   June 12th, 2012 7:40p.m.

Bugfix update is in review now! Go go App Review Team!

Tap the screen in the middle to get one stroke at a time, or double tap to show the whole thing. (The demo would have tried to show this.) This and a couple other gestures are also in the Help - Guide section of the app.

Cool beans!

Go App team go. I have both issues as well. No demo and frozen writing area with all other buttons working.
